Snieżnik (aquatic version)

The Śnieżnik training system, aquatic version - trainer of deck armament operators, navigators and helmsmen of operational boats. The trainer of deck armament operators, navigators and helmsmen of Fast Operational Boats (FOB) is designed as the ŚNIEŻNIK-2 device, adapted to the needs of the user. The Śnieżnik system was introduced into the armament according to the Order No 38/Log/WLąd of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces and is used in the Land Forces, Air Force and Navy of the RoP.

Overview

The training station is designed as a dome with a minimum diameter of 13 metres, which is a screen for the projection system.
The central part (with the reinforced foundations) hosts the mobile platform with 6 degrees of freedom and capacity ensuring that the entire frame of the boat hull replica can be carried, including the crew and the equipment. The boat replica is equipped with elements resembling the actual elements of the FOB. Thanks to the actuator system used and to the system of image simulation and projection, the design and operation of the device simulates conditions similar to the actual conditions which are in effect during execution of tasks on the sea surface, during the day and at night. It enables the sea conditions and impact of other factors on the FOB to be simulated, e.g. a wave reflected from another boat/ship, wind intensity, etc. The settings provided by the helmsman are executed by the hydrodynamics model taking into account the influence of other units and recoil forces generated by shots of deck weapons into its balance of forces.

The training station is equipped with a set of armament simulators, namely electronic devices provided on the basis of actual armaments, adapted to simulated shooting within the system. It is also equipped with simulators of recognition and communication means. Additionally, the trainer enables exercises to be performed under limited visibility conditions using original, night vision goggles.

Features

The trainer is adapted to training regular crews of this type of mobile sea units. The training applies both to the Special Forces and to the crews of inspection and emergency boats. The use of the trainer enables habits to be maintained and skills of the FOB crews to be improved, including boat maneuvering and operation of standard armaments in the simulated tactical situations, with influence of an opponent created by the computer system and under variable hydro-weather conditions.

The trainer enables operation in an independent mode and in an network mode. In the independent mode, the device may be equipped with additional operator stations imitating virtual boats. They include simplified helmsmen stations and enable exercises to be executed using an enlarged number of boats, which increases the reality levels of the training. The network mode enables the simulator to be connected (using the HLA protocol) with other simulators (including other boats), creating expanded tactical situations.
