Vessel installations

The upgrade of an operational room of vessel installations included upgrades of  currently provided equipment and providing new measurement and control automation equipment, with a new computer system installed at the instructor station - enabling status of its components to be checked on the level of basic functions, as well as that of mutual interactions between components.

The project was intended to provide a system controlling elements of a modern engine room of a vessel on the basis of an upgrade of already existing equipment, covering the basic elements of vessel systems:

  • technological air and hydrophore system,
  • bilge-ballast system,
  • fuel system,
  • lubricating oil system.

Stations installed within the room provide the following didactic funcitons:

1. Technological air and hydrophore system. The exercises are intended to get the trainees acquainted with:

  • the rules of operation of devices which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of control-measurement devices and industrial automation equipment which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of system equipment in cases of local operation and operation with the CMK,
  • the measurement of basic parameters characterising the operation of equipment included in the system,
  • the activities related to operation of the cooling system of the compressor,
  • the alarm systems of devices comprising the system,
  • the troubleshooting methods for emergency conditions.

2. Bilge-ballast system. The exercises are intended to get the trainees acquainted with:

  • the rules of operation of devices which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of control-measurement devices and industrial automation equipment which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of system equipment in cases of local operation and operation with the CMK,
  • the measurement of basic parameters characterising the operation of equipment included in the system,
  • the operations related to ballast changes of the tanks,
  • the operations related to drying of machine room bilges,
  • the alarm systems of devices comprising the system,
  • the troubleshooting methods for emergency conditions.

3. Fuel system. The exercises are intended to get the trainees acquainted with:

  • the rules of operation of devices which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of control-measurement devices and industrial automation equipment which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of system equipment in cases of local operation and operation with the CMK,
  • the measurement of basic parameters characterising the operation of equipment included in the system,
  • the rules of topping up the fuel distribution tank using transfer pumps and a centrifuge,
  • the emergency topping up of the fuel distribution tank,
  • the influence of fuel contamination on selection of centrifuging parameters,
  • the operations related to servicing of oil filters and influence of their contamination on operational processes of lubricating oil systems,
  • the alarm systems of devices comprising the system,
  • the troubleshooting methods for emergency conditions.

4. Lubricating oil system. The exercises are intended to get the trainees acquainted with:

  • the rules of operation of devices which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of control-measurement devices and industrial automation equipment which comprise the system,
  • the rules of operation of system equipment in cases of local operation and operation with the CMK,
  • the measurement of basic parameters characterising the operation of equipment included in the system,
  • the methods of topping up the distribution tank of the lubricating oil with and without heating, using a centrifuge,
  • the influence of lubricating oil contamination on selection of centrifuging parameters,
  • the methods of topping up the distribution tank of the lubricating oil with and without heating, using oil pumps,
  • the operations related to servicing of oil filters and influence of their contamination on operational processes of lubricating oil systems,
  • the alarm systems of devices comprising the system,
