Navigation bridge - underwater weapon

The simulator of combat operations of the HOMAR.NAV.BP underwater weapon operators is intended for training of the crews of Naval units in regards to tactical navigation, underwater combat and maneuvering.

The scope of the training includes, first and foremost, the option of fighting submarines using torpedoes and depth charges, fighting surface vessels using torpedoes as well as laying and fighting sea mines, including the options of maneuvering the vessel within a marine area with pre-set starting attributes, taking into account the sea watch procedures.

Overview

The simulator includes the bridge station with five installed projectors enabling the image to be presented with a horizontal angle of 210°. The system comprises the bridge station and the trainer station. Each of the stations is completely equipped by the company, some elements of the equipment:

  • dedicated furniture,
  • handles,
  • instruments,
  • computer with software,
  • computer displays,

Bridge station

The bridge simulator for the underwater weapon operators was built with the state of the art computer technology including multi-channel projection control elements, which saw its first use in 2010. The design of the simulator contains elements which are innovative at the national level.

The innovative elements of the simulator design technology are:

  • the use of a tactical binoculars assembly with an option of changing the displayed image in the horizontal plane and an angle of 360°,
  • the generation of an image from a single computer equipped with a multi-channel projection system with simultaneous multiplication of graphic channels,
  • the ability to cooperate with a group of integrated tactical bridges and the main bridge with the group execution of scenarios (all stations execute the same scenario) or the autonomous execution of scenarios (each station executes the scenario separately).

Features

The vision sub-system enables the view form the bridge to be displayed, taking into account the time of the day, atmospheric conditions, sea conditions and characteristic objects (lights, navigation signs). The bridge is operated by three panels containing appropriate layouts of typical control elements (propeller and steering control handles, navigation lights panel), information-related elements (navigation sub-systems displays and repeaters of navigation parameters), as well as ARPA, AIS, ECDIS device indicators and a navigation plotter with a GPS system. The VHF communication system enables the bridge crew to communicate with the trainer.

The trainer station - functionalities:

  • creation, edition and selection of training tasks for the bridge crew
  • view of the process of an exercise on the map with the option of introducing changes during the execution of an exercise (adding objects, changing their position or motion parameters)
  • selection of a type and quantity of armaments
  • generation of atmospheric conditions
  • saving the process of an exercise with the playback option available at a later date
  • VHF communication with the bridge crew

The bridge has been equipped with three tactical panels and a tactical binoculars system in order to provide tactical navigation. This system enables the scene to be viewed in the horizontal plane and an angle of 360° with the ability to zoom in on an object and to calculate the distance from the object. The bridge for underwater weapon operators has been integrated with SHL-100M and SHL-200M Sonar Station Trainers.

The bridge station - functionalities:

  • environment visualisation of motion of the specified vessel with entrances to the following ports: Szczecin-Świnoujście, Kołobrzeg, Ustka, Gdynia
  • generation of sound effects (environment sounds, engine operation sounds and sound signals of other units)
  • control panel
  • indicators of actual navigation instruments
  • information panel displaying all settings and basic navigation parameters
  • tactical panels
  • VHF wireless communication panel and internal-wired communication panel
  • navigation table with a repeater of navigation parameters
